Anjali House is an NGO based in Siem Reap Cambodia supporting underprivileged children and young adults through education and healthcare.
At Anjali House, they provide children with food, clean drinking water, healthcare, and education. They care for 80 younger students on a full time basis. Additionally they provide part-time education, family support, and assistance to 40 older students who are part of their Young Adult Programme.
HOW IS THE SOULCIAL TRUST INVOLVED WITH ANJALI HOUSE?
In partnership with Anjali House, Soulcial Trust will involve the Young Adults in Educational and Community Exchange experiences.
It aims to involve the YAP students in a capacity building project where they will be able to both perfect their own personal communication skills and help educate the community on social and sustainable issues.
The students, together with our staff, will educate school students on both environmental issues and on the importance of disability rights. They will receive trainings both on the communication skills for the delivery of the programme as well as on the content, so they themselves understand and are sensitive to the respective causes. This is important so they themselves become effective ambassadors of both the environmental and disability rights causes.
By training the YAP students on these issues and getting them to present the programme or conduct a workshop within Anjali House, they will themselves be more proactive about defending the environment and protecting the rights of people with disabilities in the future.
Finally, within the disability programme, the students will be working on the organisation of a wheelchair tournament with players with and withour disabilities. A wheelchair rugby team is expected to be created in Siem Reap in the coming months.
