Green meeting: 2nd edition
September 6, 2017
NGOs & companies in Siem Reap are joining forces to introduce a series of environmental initiatives for the city. The group’s objective is to make Siem Reap a cleaner city for the tourist destination’s visitors and to improve the quality of life for its residents.
The steering committee, which includes GAEA, Easia Travel, Sala Lodges, Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa, Cleanbodia, Naga Earth, Plastic Free Cambodia, Rehash Trash and Apopo as well as the Soulcial Trust are meeting on a regular basis to assess how best to involve as many companies and organisations within the city and ensure widespread adoption of the pro-environmental initiatives.
Under the coordination of the Soulcial Trust, the group is in the process of developing an information portal – both via Facebook and a website – to share environmental tips and events, which are aimed at companies, NGOs, residents and visitors to find out more about the numerous environmental initiatives in the city.
A second phase of the project will be announced later in the year which will aim to create green communities in and around the city by getting businesses and other organisations to work together to ensure Siem Reap is not only a clean, green and pleasant city to live in and visit but one which stands out as an example to others.
