Disability Rights in India

guddu intervention

Our operations officer in New Delhi, Guddu, participated in the event Attend Access4All: Create An India Without Barriers on May 27th in New Delhi, in order to talk about disability rights in India. Being an amputee since the age of 10 and a disability rights activist, he was able to talk from experience.

The meeting was organized by the journal Youth Ki Awaaz (YKA) and CBM Events. The objective was to gather experts on disability rights to talk about the solutions and needs for more accessible places and “advocate for accessibility as a basic human right” (YKA). Other speakers included Nipun Malhotra – Co-Founder and CEO, Nipman Foundation and Pradeep Raj – Para-Athlete and Disability Rights Activist.

It’s encouraging to see that things are moving forward in India. At The Soulcial Trust, our focus on disability rights centres around wheelchair sports promotion and educating school children via our disability educational programme.
