Rugby Trainings for Siem Reap’s Children
26 June 2018
Three weeks ago, Soulcial Trust launched its first ever rugby training with the children from two local NGOs: Anjali House and Sunrise Cambodia. Around 40 players, from 6 to 15 years old now gather weekly for a 2 hour training led by our experienced coaches.
For most of the children, rugby was still an unknown sport only one month ago. Today, after only 3 weeks of trainings, the young players’ impressive improvement is promising and encouraging for the training team: “The last trainings have been full of surprises for the children, but especially for the trainers. The players seem to enjoy contact, they are really fast and not afraid of going strong during the games. I truly believe that many of them were made for rugby sevens. I am very optimistic about the team’s future.” Vincent Fouert, XLability manager and rugby coach.
Besides the health benefits, the trainings aim to spread key values such as fair-play, self-discipline, and team spirit to underprivileged children while allowing them to meet new people and make new friends.
Our rugby programme trainings will be held regularly every Saturday from 8 to 10 am and we are aiming to include students from additional schools by the end of the year. If you are interested in knowing more or in joining the trainings, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
